Conversely, Aaron, at 16, I was working my first “real” job at a local McDonald’s. I apparently fouled up an order because, at one point, the front door was all but blasted off the hinges. I looked up from the counter to see a very large man, feet spread wide and firmly planted, pointing at yours truly with a beefy index finger, roaring, “YOU!” I told him he could everything in the place if he’d just give me time to change my shorts. I’d have much preferred your approach.

As you demonstrated at Dunkin’, the benefit of the doubt and a little polite kindness can go a very long way.

Thank you for sharing your story. You’re a good man, my friend.
