Wow, Aaron. It’s amazing to find out we share cycling and that we’ve ridden to support the same cause. As for time and threads, I’ve written something along these lines in a number of my responses to this story:

I don’t feel in any way disconnected from moments like the one in the story; that is, those moments don’t feel like memories or nostalgia: They feel like part of a constant whole.

While Nietzsche’s notion of eternal recurrence wasn’t entirely original to him, I recall this line from The Gay Science always: “This ring in which you are but a grain will glitter afresh forever.”

I suspect you’ll find yourself in that line, as well.
